The multi award-winning Sin City Comedy & Burlesque, now in its 8th consecutive year on the Las Vegas Strip, has announced some exciting new changes to it’s format, production team and cast (Pictured: Lisa Landry).
The show will now be anchored by the veteran comedian Lisa Landry who was described by Punchline Magazine as “… an incredibly skilled comedian, a controlling presence onstage and a master of pacing and delivery”.
Landry came up through the famed New York comedy circuit to become an audience favorite at clubs, colleges and theaters all over the country. She starred in her own half-hour special, “Comedy Central Presents Lisa Landry.” And a nationwide vote catapulted her special to third place out of 100 top comedians in Comedy Central’s “Stand Up Showdown”. She was the first woman to ever place in the top three.
Lisa will also be featured in an upcoming episode of the A&E channel reality series “Little Funny” about an eleven year old comic, from executive producer Ellen Degeneres. Landry has appeared on CBS’ “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”, ABC’s “Comics Unleashed”, “Stand Up In Stilettos” on The TV Guide Network and was told she is the “edgiest” comic to appear on “The Bonnie Hunt Show” on NBC.
“I’m originally from New Orleans, so I too live like a Saint, but let’s face it, I’m hardwired for Sin City”, said Landry. “My agent warned me not to work with animals or kids, but he never mentioned Burlesque dancers!”
Landry will co-headline Sin City Comedy & Burlesque at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino with nationally touring headliner Greg Vaccariello whose impressive resume includes appearances on “The King of Queens,” “Hope and Faith,” “Law and Order: SVU,” and on the big screen in “Paul Blart Mall Cop 2.” The dual headliners will be joined by a rotating series of well-known comedians; and as is the cornerstone of the Sin City Comedy & Burlesque concept — some of Las Vegas’ sexiest, high-energy, modern burlesque dancers.
It’s been a tumultuous year for the longest running Comedy Show in Las Vegas; Producer John Padon announced in September that the show would be closing; however original development partner Pete Housley, negotiated a long term licensing deal through his production company “Disaster Productions”; which also produces “Sam Tripoli’s Naughty Show”.
“Lisa never fails to make me laugh; audiences adore her because her comedy style is personal and relatable. Alongside Vaccariello, a lineup of rotating hilarious comedians and brand new provocative burlesque dance numbers — all in Vegas’ sexiest and intimate showroom. It’s a spicy intoxicating cocktail of laughter and sultry”, said Pete Housley executive producer.
Sin City Comedy & Burlesque will also be adding Special ‘Household Name’ Guest Headliners Quarterly; the first will be announced later this week to appear November 10, 11, and 12 for a limited 5 show engagement.
Sin City Comedy & Burlesque also sponsors the weekly Las Vegas Local Comic Showcase “We Got Jokes” on Tuesday nights immediately following the show at 10:30pm. This free event, hosted by John Hilder, showcases the best new comedic talent in Las Vegas with 2 for 1 drinks throughout the event.
Sin City Comedy & Burlesque is hosted in the Cabaret Show Lounge inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Showtime is 9 p.m. nightly, dark Wednesdays. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
